Access to the most current information is key to the work we do at CCSA, and our library and research staff have a vast knowledge of scientific and medical information sources at their fingertips.
CCSA’s information professionals are expert searchers in the many biomedical databases available on STN and Dialog, as well as the freely available databases (including PubMed) of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the National Library of Medicine. Medline, Embase, BIOSIS, and ChemAbs are just a few of the databases that can be included in a comprehensive literature search.
Our information professionals can also create literature citation databases using either EndNote or Reference Manager software to assist in manuscript preparation or to manage large bibliographies.
Literature Search
CCSA librarians search the biomedical literature on a daily basis through the National Library of Medicine’s (NLM) PubMed. They also have access to the hundreds of databases on both STN and Dialog and can provide a comprehensive search in databases that include Medline, Embase, BIOSIS, ChemAbs, and Pharmaprojects, to name a few. Costs for these databases are passed through to the client, and a reasonable rate is charged for the search.
As part of a comprehensive literature search, our information professionals will obtain all requested literature, and can provide a formatted bibliography and/or an EndNote library of citations. Full text PDF files can also be linked to citations within an EndNote library.
Document Delivery
Clients who search the biomedical literature on their own can order documents through NLM’s Loansome Doc system. The CCSA library is a member of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine and is a Loansome Doc provider for the San Francisco Bay Area.
